Teresa Schully Habacker, M.D. East End HAND Surgery

Dr. Teresa Schully Habacker is proud to announce the opening of her new offices at 41 N. Country Road in Port Jefferson and 1333 Roanoke Avenue in Riverhead. Dr. Habacker has served eastern Suffolk and the North Shore as an Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon since she returned to her native Long Island in 2007.  Prior to this, she had her own Orthopaedic Hand Surgery practice (Valley Hand Center) in Modesto California for ten years.  Dr. Habacker was awarded the Certified Added Qualification for Hand Surgery after passing a specialized Board exam and completing a Hand Surgery Fellowship at the prestigious Thomas Jefferson University in 1997.  She is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon having graduated from her Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park.  Her medical degree was from the Medical College of Virginia and she graduated Magna cum laude with distinction from Duke University, School of Engineering where she majored in biomedical engineering.

Dr. Teresa Schully Habacker is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and a fellow of the American Association of Surgery for the Hand.  She is a member of the Suffolk Medical Society and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society . Dr. Teresa Schully Habacker specializes in all injuries and illnesses from the elbow to the hand ranging from congenital malformations to degenerative arthritis.  Her expertise includes care of tumors of the skin, soft tissue, and bone.  Her practice encompasses sports injuries, fractures and overuse injuries.  Many conditions can be addressed nonsurgically.  She is one of the physicians on the panel for Xiaflex---the recently approved medication to treat Dupuytren’s contractures without surgery.  The doctor works very closely with occupational and physical therapists to ensure optimal care.  When surgery is indicated, arthroscopic or endoscopic procedures may be discussed.
